Oleg Kagan was a renowned Soviet violinist, born in 1946, who made a lasting impact in the music world through his exceptional chamber music collaborations. He worked closely with prominent musicians, including pianists Sviatoslav Richter and Eliso Virsaladze, as well as cellist Natalia Gutman, who was also his wife. These partnerships showcased his technical skill and artistic expression, leaving a lasting legacy in the classical music scene.

Kagan's repertoire extended to modern music, with a particular affinity for Alban Berg's Violin Concerto, which he championed throughout his career.
