Max Mannheimer
pisarz, malarz, ocalały z Holocaustu
Max Mannheimer was a Jewish author and painter who survived the Holocaust, a experience that would later shape his life's work. The trauma of the Holocaust had a profound impact on him, resulting in the loss of his entire family, except for one brother, and his newlywed wife. For many years, Mannheimer struggled to come to terms with his past, suffering from nightmares and depression, yet he remained silent about his experiences.
It wasn't until 1986, when a chance encounter with a swastika in the United States triggered a nervous breakdown, that Mannheimer began to openly discuss his experiences under Nazi rule. This marked a turning point, as he started giving talks at schools, universities, and other venues, sharing his story with both young people and adults. Through his work, Mannheimer received numerous honors and awards, recognizing his contributions to raising awareness and educating others about the Holocaust.
