Israel Katz

Israel Katz is a seasoned Israeli politician, born in 1955, who has held various prominent positions within the government. As a member of the Knesset for the Likud party, he has demonstrated his versatility by serving in multiple ministerial roles, including Minister of Agriculture, Minister of Transport, Minister of Intelligence, Minister of Energy, Minister of Finance, and Minister of Foreign Affairs, a position he has held twice.

Katz's tenure has been marked by significant contributions to Israel's infrastructure development, particularly in the transportation sector. He has overseen the expansion of highways, the development of high-speed rail, and implemented reforms at Israel's ports, which have increased competition and reduced shipping costs. Currently, Katz serves as Minister of Defense and is a member of the Security Cabinet of Israel, a position he was nominated for by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in November 2024, following the dismissal of Yoav Gallant.
