Lewando's expertise lay in vegetarian cuisine, and she successfully operated a restaurant called Dieto-Jarska Jadłodajnia, which showcased her innovative approach to plant-based cooking.

As a pioneering cookbook author, Lewando made a significant contribution to the culinary world with the publication of the first known Yiddish language vegetarian cookbook in Europe in 1938. This milestone work highlighted her passion for promoting healthy and sustainable eating habits.
