Edward Mosberg
polski Żyd ocalony z holokaustu
Edward Mosberg was a Polish-born Jewish American who survived the Holocaust and went on to become a prominent educator, businessman, and philanthropist. Born in 1926, Mosberg's life was forever changed when he was taken by the Nazis at the age of 14 and held in various concentration camps, including Kraków Ghetto, Kraków-Płaszów, Auschwitz, Mauthausen, and a slave labor camp in Linz, Austria. He was eventually liberated by the US Army in 1945, but not before losing nearly all of his family to the brutal regime.
Following his liberation, Mosberg dedicated his life to preserving the history of the Holocaust and educating others about its significance. He shared his testimony with students, participated in commemorations, and joined initiatives to collect and preserve survivor testimonies. Mosberg also worked with the International March of the Living, visiting former concentration camps and advocating for the preservation of authentic Holocaust history. His tireless efforts were recognized in 2019, when he was awarded the Order of Merit of the Republic of Poland, the country's highest civilian honor, by President Andrzej Duda. Mosberg passed away in 2022, leaving behind a legacy of remembrance and education.
