Abraham Cohen Pimentel

Abraham Cohen Pimentel was a prominent figure in 17th century Amsterdam, serving as a rabbi in the city. His education was guided by the esteemed Saul Levi Morteira, from whom he gained valuable knowledge and insight into Jewish studies. Pimentel's expertise and leadership skills eventually led him to assume the role of hakham at a synagogue in Hamburg, where he continued to share his understanding of Jewish principles and practices.

As a respected member of his community, Pimentel was initially a supporter of Sabbatai Zevi, signing a letter of approbation for the latter. Additionally, he made significant contributions to Jewish literature through his written works, most notably the Minchat Kohen, which was published in 1668.
