Abraham Abulafia was a prominent Spanish Kabbalah teacher, born in 1240 in Zaragoza, Kingdom of Aragon. His life's work had a significant impact on the field of Judaism, particularly in the development of mystical thought. As the founder of the school of "Prophetic Kabbalah", Abulafia's teachings emphasized the attainment of prophetic states through the use of various spiritual practices.

Abulafia's life spanned over five decades, during which he traveled and taught his unique brand of Kabbalah. The last recorded period of his life took place on the island of Comino in the Maltese archipelago, where he stayed at some point before his death. Although the exact date of his passing is unknown, it is believed to have occurred sometime after 1291, marking the end of a remarkable life dedicated to the exploration and dissemination of Jewish mystical knowledge.
